Artist’s Statement:
I have always been interested in creative expression, whether in the home or the studio. Basic art instruction in college at Oklahoma State University got me started and I continued to study in local classes and workshops in St. Paul, MN. My early work was in watercolor, but since moving to the Southwest I have found working in acrylic and mixed media better suited to the climate and the lifestyle of the new environment which differs so much from the upper Midwest. I love working in collage and assemblage. My work also moved from representational watercolors to more abstract work. I focus on getting what is in my unconscious mind onto the painting giving my work a spiritual connection that is both personal and interesting to the viewer. Art is a journey of the soul.
