ASSEMBLAGE GALLERY

The art of assemblage is very closely related to that of collage. Each approach brings together a collection of different pieces into a composition that is either glued or attached to a ground. In collage, the finished piece is usually one dimensional. In assemblage, the final effect is one of a three dimensional piece of art work. Collage is made with papers, fabrics, pressed natural materials, found objects that are mostly flat and adhered to other paper, stretched canvas or cradled board. The elements that go into assemblage are often dimensional found objects and the ground can be wood or metal or another found object.
